On Sunday 23rd April at the Kent Showground, the largest wedding fair in the county took place!

The spring season finale show of a run of wedding fairs county-wide organised by The Wedding Experience, is the highest-attended show and certainly the most mind-blowing.

With over 1200 brides coming through the doors, it is a mecca of matrimonial supplies from the essential to the more obscure, but each one carefully laid out and displayed for all to see.

This was my third appearance at the Detling wedding fair and armed with a bunch of new promotional material, loads of pictures and a six-foot shaking butler, I was ready for action!

Nothing can ever prepare any supplier for just how busy the day will be and each time it seems to get bigger and bigger!

Having set up mine and my wife’s (adjoining Beautilicious Make-up) stands the day before, an unearthly arrival time was avoided!

We had loads of great feedback about the stands and had a full-on day chatting with all the new brides, eager to gather information from us suppliers to help plan their special day!

It was a hugely successful day and the week that followed saw the diary filling up for 2012, 2013 and even 2014 dates already!

It just goes to show that key-dates do get snapped up really early on these days! Also midweek-weddings were more popular than ever with a huge number of bookings taken for weddings at Cooling Castle Barn – a very popular venue and having worked there often, it is easy to see why!

Only five weddings a year, set in beautiful privately owned grounds – you cannot get any more exclusive than what is described as Kent’s best kept secret!

Allington Castle is set in a staggering 42 acres of land next to the river Medway. You would think you were in another world once inside the huge wooden gates of this unique venue.

The grounds are immaculate and the setting fairytale-like; the perfect setting for the wedding of a very lovely couple.

I first met Metin and Claire last Autumn at a party I was performing at and they immediately booked me for their wedding to entertain their guests with wedding magic. Knowing both of them had a great sense of fun, loved magic and were very excited, I knew it would be a great day.

Despite a few light showers early on, Joanne Collins managed to get all the 80 guests photographed whilst I entertained during the reception drinks.

Then it was through to the great hall and I mean great, for the wedding breakfast and more magic at the tables. This was a fantastic party and a great opportunity to perform at one of Kent’s most exclusive venues.

Privately owned, the Castle only hosts a maximum of FIVE weddings a year, making this a truly memorable occasion for all in attendance!

It was a great privilege to perform at the first ever wedding breakfast that Allington Castle has hosted and I hope to return there in the future. The team from Relish Catering did a great job serving up a gourmet meal and I even managed to fool the most suspicious and sceptical Father of the Bride ever! A great day and very best wishes to the happy couple for their future happiness!

Situated just off the Victoria Embankment and a short walk from Blackfriars station, this was a wedding venue with a difference.

The views are stunning and the London backdrop provides a very unique setting. It was a great pleasure to perform at the wedding of Mary and Matthew at this fantastic London wedding venue.

Firtunately the boat is moored permenantly so there was no sea sickness, although with the champagne flowing, I suspect that there were a few that were a few sore heads in the morning!

The crowd was on top form and everyone was really buzzing by the time my performance finished, all in good spirits ready for the speeches!

Then it was up again early on the Sunday to exhibit at a wedding fair at The Old Brewery in Faversham. A relatively new venue but destined to be a very popular one. A Vinopolis kind of feel mixed with vintage memorabilia make this a very cool venue.

There was lots of interest at the stand and I look forward to working with lots of the people of Faversham soon!

Everyone had a really great time and loved the magic – so much so that we are already talking about future events to work on together.

The restaurant was the finest Indian style cuisine and the owner was also keen to do some more work and possibly some magic events.

Recently I had the pleasure of attending a wedding at which I was not actually working! My own!

I am delighted to say that my wedding to Charmaine was truly the happiest day of my life and an unforgettable experience.

Everything was absolutely perfect and I could not have wished for a more magical day!

I am delighted to announce that on 3rd November I won the “Best Wedding Entertainment” award at the Kent Wedding Awards 2011.

It is a great honour to be recognised in this way and I would like to thank all those of you that have booked me, past, present and future, for making this possible. I am hugely flattered and grateful to receive the award.

“Chris demonstrated how he uses his charismatic personality to engage with people in a charming and fun manner.

He supplied evidence, which showed how his act was inclusive for all age groups, ensuring that there was something for everyone to enjoy.

At the age of 17 Chris was awarded 1st place in the “young magician close up magic” competition at the Magic Circle in London and the judges felt that his passion and personality shone through – putting the bride and groom at ease on their big day.

Testimonials from couples described him as “fantastic from start to finish.”

I had the pleasure of recently performing for Katy perry and her tour team at a private post-X Factor party at Simon Drake’s House of Magic.
Both Katy and her dancers/singers were a complete delight to perform for and they were a fantastic audience for Simon Drake’s show – which they gave a standing ovation!
